The Laurels is a wonderful traditional Killarney pub which has been run by the O’ Leary family for almost a century. And little has changed in that time.
The Laurels Pub and Restaurant, retains the old world feel of a great Irish pub, that the visitor will savour the moment he walks through the door. This family run pub is conveniently located on Main Street in the heart of Killarney town.
The Laurels enjoys a great reputation for its food. Home prepared food is served all day. Lunch is served from 12 noon to 3pm and the menu changes daily. The fare is comprised of hearty dishes prepared from local produce. Light bites are served from 3pm to 6pm and from 6pm the night menu commences.
Expect to find the best traditional fare around prepared not with just a little flair, entirely from local ingredients. Bantry Bay mussels come in a tureen of white wine, garlic and fresh cream with home made soda bread, Irish stew with crusty home baked rolls and traditional potato cakes filled with chicken and smoked bacon on a mushroom sauce.
As well as dining in the pub, the adjoining restaurant seats 65 people between two rooms for more leisurely dining. This establishment has been recommended in many good food guides including Les Routiers of France, Berlitz and Hidden Places of Ireland. The Laurels is a family run pub, now in its third generation and along with its open fire, traditional fare and friendly atmosphere, provides a great mingling place for locals and tourists.
