The An Seanachai became a pub in 1846 when the adjacent Famine Grave was opened and mourners came to bury their loved ones. In Irish An Seanachai means storyteller and the Seanachai would traditionally pass down the local history through stories many being told around the open fire. In An Seanachai Pub and Kitchen that original fireplace in still in daily use and is one of our unique points of interest of which there are many.
