Kennedy’s Bar is a wonderful Traditional bar in the heart of Galway City Kennedys is a true “local” in the heart of Galways bustling city On the 29th June 1963, the President of the United States of America, John Fitzgerald Kennedy stopped off at the site that is now Kennedys on his way to making a speech to the people of Galway at Kennedy park or Eyre Square as it is ether known as today. It is for the above reason that when the pub was refurbished in 2006 it was named Kennedys. The building is in fact in existence since 1874. The old style interior is immaculately decorated, with the walls adorned with various pictures of JFK, the time of his visit, along with old framed paper clippings from the time of his visit. This creates a sense of history which is appreciated by all patrons where they can enjoy a drink and peruse over all the pictures and fabled stories from a great time in Galway’s history. Kennedys is known for it’s great Guinness and various whiskies including Kennedy whiskey. There is always local Galwegians ready to tell a tale or discuss the day’s topics when you decide to stop off for a drink. There is a covered, heated smoking area which has become an essential element for any smokers in modern times. Free Wifi is available. It is the various elements of Kennedys which culminate in heightening a truly enjoyable, social experience for all visitors.
