Your stay in Waterford is not complete without a visit to the historic Gingerman Tavern. This revived old pub is located in a newly pedestrianised lane just off Broad Street in the historic heart of the old Norman city which rises steeply above the Suir waterfront. The Gingerman has a wonderful atmosphere and you can just relax in the beautiful surroundings while you are enjoying a great meal. The interior decor of The Gingerman is wonderful and, it has to be said, so are the staff. We recently had a one week trip across Ireland and coming all the way from Canada, it was important for us to get to try authentic Irish food. We wanted some from a pub and were suggested The Gingerman by the cab driver. There was a motorcycle rally going on in the area and the pub was packed, and for good reason. The food was absolutely delicious. It was my first time having Irish Stew made with Guinness and it was absolutely amazing. So much so, that I spent weeks finding a recipe online that could come close to matching it. Probably the best meal we had on our entire trip.
