About

Welcome to Sligo’s Oldest, award winning pub.

There has been a pub here since 1790 ,opening onto Holborn St. The Markievice road end was orginally living quarters .

First Licensed in 1861, the pub came about during a time of plentiful maritime trade; Deliveries of rope, linen and tea came into Sligo from all over Europe.

There is a great account of Connolly’s in the book The Irish Pub, by James Fennell and Turtle Bunbury. Connolly’s storied past includes at least one visit from Charles Stewart Parnell

during the pubs early days, plus Thomas Connolly himself becoming Mayor of Sligo in 1890 (The same year he acquired the premises )

There was once a grocer’s shop at one end of the pub – now gone – popular for making sugar, selling tea and bottling whiskey.

These days, Connolly’s is best known for it’s warm welcome, it’s famous pint of stout, and it’s relaxing atmosphere. In the pub there is an evergrowing Craft Beer, Premium Whiskey and Gin collection.

Recently we’ve introduced a new whiskey menu where we are offering tasting tarys of select single malt verieties. We also offer tasting experiences with some of Ireland’s premium gins.

On the Craft beer front, we’ve also designed a craft menu that is constantly updated with new arrivals on rotation taps and bottles. We have a range of european red, white rose and prosecco wines by the glass or the bottle.

We believe in choice and so gluten-free and non alcoholic beer options are readily available. We’ll also happily prepare a freshly ground coffee of your choice.

We can offer your tour group a tailored live music experience, group Irish Coffees or a unique premiumIrish Whiskey or Gin tasting experience in our historic pub.
